Overview
BI WORLDWIDE Latin America needed to fill a high-impact technology position within its regional operations. The challenge went far beyond finding someone with strong technical experience. The role required leadership capabilities, the ability to engage with international stakeholders, and strong cultural alignment with a fast-growing global organization.
Through our executive search and headhunting services, we identified, assessed, and presented senior candidates aligned with the role’s technical requirements, leadership expectations, and cultural fit. The project concluded with a successful hire and a verified 5.0 / 5.0 review on Clutch

Client situation
BI WORLDWIDE is a global business engagement company founded in 1950 in Minneapolis, specializing in incentive, loyalty, and recognition programs that help employees, customers, and partners drive stronger business outcomes. The company operates across 183 countries, has 18 offices worldwide, and serves organizations including Fortune 500 companies, reaching millions of participants globally.
The Head of Technology and Software Development role was critical to supporting this infrastructure. The selected candidate would be responsible for leading a distributed engineering team while coordinating with senior stakeholders across three time zones, three operating environments, and three distinct cultures.
Defining the profile became the first major challenge. BI WORLDWIDE needed someone with strong technical depth, the ability to lead distributed teams, executive presence, and a high level of cultural alignment. In addition, this was a difficult role to fill through traditional channels, and the internal team did not have the technical specialization required to confidently distinguish the most suitable candidate.
Collaboration
To address this challenge, we structured the engagement under our dedicated executive search (headhunting) service, with a specialized team responsible for candidate sourcing and qualification, interview coordination, and continuous communication with internal stakeholders from start to finish.
The first step was aligning on a precise definition of the role. We worked closely with the client to build an operational profile that combined technical depth, leadership capabilities, and the interaction dynamics required to engage effectively with regional leadership. As María Alejandra Pérez, HR Manager at BI WORLDWIDE, highlighted in her Clutch review: “They understood the profile very well and adjusted it as we communicated the need for certain changes.”
Based on that definition, we presented shortlists of candidates with clear and actionable context behind each profile and maintained a structured follow-up process throughout the engagement. In collaborations like this, continuity is critical to securing the right hire, and our consistent updates provided real visibility into candidate progress at every stage of the process.
Customer review
The client particularly highlighted the quality of the candidates presented, the responsiveness of the team, the consistent follow-up, and the ability to adapt to evolving requirements throughout the search process. The result was a successful hire aligned with their objectives and a structured, seamless collaboration experience.

Results
The presentation of qualified candidates began within the first month of launching the search through a rigorous selection process that combined live technical assessments and direct interviews with BI WORLDWIDE’s CEO.
This careful validation process allowed us to present only profiles that met two critical criteria: the technical depth required for the role and the executive maturity needed to engage effectively with regional leadership and the CEO.
More than a year after the hire, the selected candidate remains in the role, confirming the strength of the match and enabling BI WORLDWIDE to continue scaling its technology operations without experiencing the turnover commonly associated with distributed technical leadership positions.
